Stitching A Story, Collage

Friday, October 4, 2019 - 1:00pm to Saturday, October 5, 2019 - 1:00pm
Registration Instructions:

Call Village at (707) 544-7529 to register. There will also be a $20.00 Supply Fee payable in class.

Join us for an exploration of hand stitched stories on fabric that will bring a special memory to life. This is a two day class, so we can share loads of information and inspiration with you.

We will experiment and play with:

  • Hand embroidery and/or free motion stitching
  • Strip weaving
  • Sheer overlays
  • Stamping and inking
  • Mounting your work

We will be working on a small piece in class, finishing out at 9” x 12”, so we can cover several techniques. However, you can work larger if you like. While we will focus mostly on hand stitching, you are welcome to use a sewing machine if you prefer.
I want you to think about some of the favorite things, people, places, or events in your life that have been very meaningful to you. You can do more than make a pretty picture, you can create something that resonates deeply with you or someone special to you. Or, you can include some of your favorite things that just make you happy! What could be better than that?
There are lots of options for what you can include in your piece, so start collecting those images, mementos, trims, ribbons, buttons, or whatever else catches your fancy.  You could also include bits of paper in your piece. Information for printing photos on fabric will be included in the Student’s Supply List. No experience is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome. There will be a $20.00 Supply Fee payable in class.
