I remain enamoured by wholecloth quilts. There is something so dramatic and appelaing about them.The wholecloth pieces always begin with a basic sketch done to scale, and then after doing minimal marking on the fabric, the details are filled in mostly with freehand machine quilting. The stitching is done in pale shades of gray and taupe for added dimension and impact. This piece is made with cotton sateen and merino wool batting.

Details of the edge: each of the little sections on the edge was about 4" long, and I had to make sure that none of the seams in the binding ended up on one of the corners where it would creat too much bulk.
