Neopaque and Lumiere Fabric Paints I am now selling the best fabric paints that I have found. The Neopaque paints are a flat paint and the Lumiere are the same but metallic. I mix all of my colors from the primaries: yellow, red, and blue, as well as black and white. With just a little practice I have been able to achieve outstanding results with these paints. Heat Setting Instructions After painting, let dry at least 24 hours, the longer you can wait before you wash them the better. Heat set with a hot iron, being careful not to scorch your fabric. I place a piece of muslin on my pressing surface, place my fabric with the painted side down, and hold my iron in each area for a minimum of 3 - 5 minutes. Don't be impatient, as the better you heat set the paint the better it will hold up. I wash my painted items gently by hand or in the washing machine with cold water. Turn your garments inside out first. Below are some test strips that I did with the Neopaque and Lumiere paints. I threw them in the washer on a regular cycle with cold water, and then they were dried in the clothes dryer.
