I will often choose a motif from the quilt fabric to use as a design element, and create an original design.
I offer a large variety of quilting styles. Each quilt is assessed as it is received. I then collaborate with the customer to determine the most suitable design to suit their needs.
I will never try to “sell” you the most elaborate quilting job unless that is specifically what you want. Some quilts are meant to be used and loved, and some are destined to be show pieces.
BATTING
I prefer to use my own batting, unless you have a specific type you would like to substitute, such as Warm and Natural or Quilters Dream. I do not work on polyester batting as I have been very dissatisfied with the results.
BINDING SERVICE
Please send sufficient fabric. Binding will be bias cut, double-fold. It will be machine sewn to the front of the quilt. And hand finished on the back.
QUILT PREPARATION
- Top must be square
- Pressed, with all seams either open flat, or pressed to one side.
- No pins, buttons, or anything that might catch the foot of the machine. (sew these on afterwards)
- Borders, and quilt top, must lie flat, with no rippling
Back of the Quilt
- Back must be a total of 8" longer and wider than the top (4" on each side)
- Seams should have one half inch seam allowance, pressed open flat.
- Back must be square. (Please do not leave extra fabric on the sides, as this must be trimmed away)
Note: I will press out any wrinkles that result from shipping. If the top and back are not properly prepared, I will do this for you and charge for the additional labor at the rate of $25.00 per hour.
