As you browse through my galleries, you will notice a wide variety of work ranging from my hand-painted, embellished pieces on silk and cotton, my wholecloth designs, and finally a collection of the quilts that I have quilted for my customers over the past many years.

Small Works

In this gallery you will find many of the pieces that were great fun for me to create. A sense of play and experimentaion was predominant in the making of these pieces. On several of the smaller silk pieces I painted a larger piece of fabric, cut it into thirds, and did somethng completely different on each section.
 

Textile Art Gallery

In my Textile Art Gallery you will find many of the original art pieces that I have created. The majority of the work is available for purchase, so please contact me if you are interested.

As my skills as a textile artist have progressed over the years, I found the need to begin creating my own fabric. This led to an exploration of the unique properties of many different paints and dyes and an education in how the different applications interacted with various fibers.

When people visit my studio they often ask to see my fabric stash, but it is actually quite stark due to the fact that the majority of my work begins as plain white fabric. Just as an artist begins with a blank canvas, I invariably begin with the creative possibiliteis that await with clean white fabric.

Wholecloth

I have been greatly inspired by the antique quilts created in Wales. After a great deal of study I have developed and adapted my own more contemporary style. I find it immensely gratifying to meet the challenge of what can be done with only a plain piece of fabric and thread.

 The first question that people always ask me is where do you start? The process begins long before I am ready to begin the stitching. I start with just a vague idea in mind, and then I begin sketching. I always do a series of what I call production sketches. It is the bones , the basic structure of the design, that is the most important.I will sometinmes spend up to a year on that process alone.

 

 Customer's Quilts

This is an assortment of my customer's quilts. As many of you know, my primary business for the last ten years has been longarm quilting. The best part about my business has been the wonderful customers that I have had the privilege of working with, many of whom have become close friends over the years. It has been amazing to collaborate with so many talented people.

I always feel truly honored when someone brings me their family heirlooms, of either the past or the future, to work on. The most touching aspect of my interaction with my customers is often the stories behind some of these quilts.
