Fabric

Silk Crepe de Chine, White 18mm weight

$12.00 per yard, 45" wide
This silk is my favorite multi-purpose silk. It is perfect for painting and dyeing. I use it in all of my hand painted and hand dyed silk pieces. It has a very subtle sheen which shows up beautifully when the piece is stitched or quilted giving my work that wonderful dimensional quality that I so dearly love. It is machine washable, and when it is taken out of the dryer slightly damp, it is usually wrinkle free. Click Here to view the images of the silk that has been dyed.

Kona Cotton, PFD White

Price: $6.00 per yard, 45"

This fabric has long been one of my staples. The threads are a little bit thicker than many broadcloths which gives it a much nicer hand than the Pima cotton. It dyes beautifully, and it is great to have on hand when you are dyeing large quantities. Click Here to view samples of the fabric that has been hand dyed.

Ultra Sateen, by Kaufman

Price: $10.00 per yard, 45" wide
Although this fabric is not actually a PFD fabric, it doesn't seem to make any difference as far as the absorbtion of the dye and the resulting color. I absolutely love this fabric. It is the best of both worlds as far as dyeing goes. You get the subtle sheen of silk, the predictable color results of cotton or cellulose fibers, and the easy handling of cotton fabrics. This fabric takes the dye beautifully, and I have not found any equal. The depth and richness that you are able to achieve with this fabric are outstanding. Click Here to view images of the sateen dyed.
