Date: April 5 and 6, 2007 Workshop: Chinese Peony Fee: $100.00 ( includes Supply Kit Fee) Level: Intermediate In this informative two day workshop the primary focus will be on these innovative techniques: the hand-painted silk organza flower, the thread work for the leaves, the dimensional silk stem, machine applique, etc. We will also explore the design elements and principles used in the development of this piece. You will have the option of working from the pattern that I will provide, or creating your own composition utilizing the same techniques outlined above. There will be a kit provided for a $20.00 fee which will include the following items: silk for the flower and the stem, two colors of inks with applicators, wool batting for the trapunto, the pattern, and a workbook.
Date: April 21, 2007, Saturday Workshop: Chinese Peony Finishing Class Fee: $40.00 Level: Intermediate The Chinese Peony was initially offered as a one day workshop. As it was quite difficult to cover all of the material in just one day, I am offering a follow-up class for those who would like further assistance in completing their project.
Date: May 19, 2007 Workshop: Beginning Machine Quilting Fee: $40.00 Level: Beginning This class is and introduction to a variety of machine quilting techniques. It has been developed for those who are complete novices, or those who have some initial experience but would like more instruction. We will cover the following topics: sewing machine basics, materials and supplies, free-motion basics, fill patterns and overall designs, and the selection of appropriate quilting designs. The goal is to provide you with enough information and confidence to be able to quilt your own pieces with ease. The pattern and instructions will be provided to create the sampler shown above.
